Everyone knows that the situation on human rights protection is a really difficult one, and a lot of people suffer each year from having their own opinion, their own vision on things in their country, from censorship and many others. Besides that China didn't abolish the death penalty, which represents one of the main problems which Amnesty International fights against.
So, we have organized an action earlier for collecting signatures against two cases in China. First one was about Ye Gouzhu, who was arrested for trying to organize a meeting against illegal evictions. And the second was for supporting a very active human rights protector.
Amnesty International collected over 300 signatures on the 9th of August, when the Olympic games had just began and decided to hand them over to the Chines Embassy at the end of the Olympic Games 2008, on the 25th of August.
